The purification of quartz sand is mainly to remove a small amount trace impurities to obtain high purity quartz sand. The commonly used process is scrubbing, gravity separation, magnetic separation, flotation, acid leaching other processes.


1, scrub


The impurity iron, bond mineral mud on the surface of quartz sand are removed by mechanical force stripping force between sand grains. 2, re-election

3, magnetic separation,

4, the flotation


Flotation is the process of separating mineral particles by different physical chemical properties on the surface of mineral particles. Its main function is to remove the related minerals mica feldspar quartz sand. 5, acid leaching


Quartz is insoluble in acid (except hydrofluoric acid), the impurities are separated by the dissolution of iron other harmful elements by the acid, resulting in high purity quartz sand. Impurities in quartz sand surface gap can be removed by acid leaching limit, magnetic separation flotation other physical methods can only remove mineral structure impurities.


It is found that the mixed acid is better to remove impurities in the process of acid leaching. Quartz will be dissolved by hydrofluoric acid, so the concentration of hydrofluoric acid in the mixed acid should be too high. Time, acid concentration, washing process temperature are all factors affecting the effect of acid leaching.
